Yunnan slow living · 云南旅居

Yunnan slow living, or 云南旅居, starts with choosing a place where you can stay long enough to establish a routine. NomadBase lists six Yunnan cities run by our family partner 大莫旅居 (Da Mo Slow Living). Each has a 30-night minimum, a private room, utilities, Wi-Fi, a shared lounge and three meals a day. Direct stays are listed at $900 per month, including those meals.

Six cities, different surroundings

Anning lists hot springs and is about 40 minutes from Kunming. Yuxi lists nearby Fuxian Lake, while Jianshui offers a historic old-town setting. Mile lists hot springs and wine country. Shilin's nearby reference is Stone Forest park, and Pu'er lists tea mountains. Local markets and a pharmacy in town are also listed for these homes.

Use these surroundings to narrow your first choice, rather than assuming all six cities offer the same daily experience. The scenery photographs on this page are illustrative local views, not the actual homes. They do not confirm a room layout, a view from a window or a home's distance from an attraction. Meals and the two ways to stay

A direct stay in Yunnan is $900 per month with three meals a day. Freedom Pass membership is $1,000 per month for Founding Monthly or $10,000 per year for Annual, and includes the Yunnan homes and their meals. The pass also covers other live homes under their stay rules, a member community and trip-planning help between homes.

Yunnan's meals distinguish it from the US and Albania homes, where food is not included in the pass. Flights, visas and insurance remain your responsibility wherever you stay. Meal times are set by the host, so consider how that routine fits your work and preferences. The listing says Wi-Fi without publishing a measured speed; clarify any work-critical connection requirements before travel.

Prepare for a longer stay

The Yunnan house rules ask guests not to smoke indoors and to respect local customs and neighbors. Pets are not allowed; only Comanche in Texas welcomes them. Choose a start month that works with the 30-night minimum rather than treating a partner home as a short hotel stop. Review the Homes page to compare all six locations.

Chinese visa or exemption requirements depend on your passport and current rules. Check with the Chinese embassy before planning travel; NomadBase can share a support letter for members staying in Yunnan. To join, apply with your preferred first home and start month, then review the Membership Agreement and Refund Policy. Members request stays through the portal, and dates are confirmed by NomadBase rather than guaranteed by an application.
